I decided to do another RGT ride. I chose this route in Italy. It had over 3600 ft of climbing, right from the start. I knew it would take over an hour, so I prepared myself for that. Getting the gear up and running was very easy, compared to the other day. I was on the trainer with minimal tinkering with the hardware. The ride went as planned. No stoppages from gear troubles. It took about 15 minutes before my climbing legs settled in. I was out of the saddle for the majority of the climb. I was only holding about 2 W/kg in that time. After about 20 minutes, I was able to hold 3+W/kg while out of the saddle. When I started to perspire, I was forced to sit and wipe the sweat away. The scenery was captivating. It really did feel like I was climbing into the heavens. There's tons of switch-backs on this climb. So, after negotiating the hair-pins, you can see the road below, from which you came. Really neat. You can see the people around you, too. In terms of difficulty, I think the speed estimation was more accurate than Zwift. While climbing, I was paying attention to the milage, time, altitude, heart rate and wattage. As you get into the climb, you can see the summit. It's demoralizing. You know that's how far you have to climb. I put it out of my mind, and just kept the tempo steady. The legs felt good. No cramping, or soreness. As was the remainder of my body. The HR was in the sweet spot. Below 145 BPM. Towards the top of the climb, there's a timed section called the "Switch Backs". It's about 1 mile in length, plus or minus. I completed it in about 7 minutes and change. That was the top of the climb. From there I headed back (by force). I decided to descend all the way back to the (base) start. From there it was cool down till 112 BPM was reached. Concentration was very good. The new map kept my attention and thus focus. Ailments, the right hand started to get blister-like soreness. Otherwise one other. Balance and form was good. Gear worked perfect. The trainer stayed planted on the ground, with my new modification to the feet, (taping inner tubes to the bottom side). The sim doesn't show how many riders are on the map, but it shows who's ahead and behind. Within a few miles or so.
Edit: This ride was similar in difficulty to the Caliente climb.
