Well, another fantastic spring day. Nice and cool, low 70's with winds from the north. I wore 1 light base layer. My right knee was sore this morning and for the first few miles of the ride. I didn't know what to expect, even thinking of shortening the ride. Turns out that my knee felt better was I went along. It feels better now than when I left for the ride. I'm thinking that it will start to get sore a little later today. Will see how that pans out. I started with modest tempo. I was feeling pretty good after I reached the end of OTR. I approached the Banducci wall cautiously and held good tempo over the top. I recovered through the plateau and kept the pace nice and steady to the summit. It became apparent to me that my knee was going to cooperate, so I decided to do the entire ride. As usual, the Banducci descent was fun and games. I kept good tempo going through CV. I reached the SS tunnel in under 1:10 hours. I had a nice tailwind on the way back. It was more of a cross-tail. Coming out of SS, I did moderate and slightly more tempo. Going through the farmlands was done in steady tempo. I was doing good average time, not so much in maximum speed due to the cross-head wind. I reached Boss Hogs well under 1:20 hours. I did good tempo going up the CVR climb. I pushed it over the top and recovered through the plains. Once I reached Route 202, it was mostly fun and games. My concentration was spot on. I was in the zone for most of the ride. Balance and form was good. I was constantly making a conscious effort to hone in my form. Ailments consisted of slight soreness in the right knee for the first 20 minutes or so. Some numbness in the right hand. Gear worked flawless today. Other notes, I couldn't believe that I didn't see any other cyclists out. Such a beautiful day it was.
