A ride from civilization (Estacada), up through suburban farmettes, tree farms and then US Forest Service land. Progressively fewer vehicles until reaching extensive fall down (5/10/2020) about Memaloose Lake trail. A sign up top says the road is closed 10 miles ahead, presumably referring to the area of the 2014 burn, but winter down fall closed the road within a mile of the sign. Hopping a few trees led to isolation, except for black bears, but the hopping would seem to go on ad infinitum. There are potholes, but overall the gravel is in pretty good shape and the descent back along the same route proceeds apace. This is not a ride with viewpoints. The forest generally grows up to the edges of the road. There are delightful streams to get water from.
