The weather is nice. A bit warm, but comfortable. I wasn't sure where I wanted to go today. I knew I wanted to ride up the Alpine Forest, but not sure where else from there. So, I played it by ear. The legs were average to start. Somewhat slow to the summit of OTR. I made my way up the Banducci wall. No redlining. Using, all my small gears. The way up the Alpine Forest felt pretty good. No redlining it, but keeping the tempo moderate, at minimum. I made my way around the backside. When I was descending, I was keeping my eye on the road. Especially, on the fast sections. I was looking out for animals. To my amazement, I saw a dear on the other side of the road. So, that rang alarm bells in my mind. Fortunately, no other deer to be seen in my path. I headed up to the Banducci summit, took a few moments rest, and then headed back. Before heading back, I noticed my GoPro battery was running a bit low. I was calculating that I had enough with my extra battery that I carried. As I was descending, I was thinking about where to head next. I ended up going east on Highline. When I got back onto Highline, my GoPro gave up. So, I pulled over to swap out the battery. As I was trying remove the battery, the removal band snapped off the battery. So, I had to find a place to sit and figure out how to remove it. It didn't budge when tapping it on the palm of my hand. I checked my saddle bag and found my mini swiss army knife. Using the nail filer tool, I was able to remove the battery. I put my spare battery in, re-started the camera and headed back on the road. As I was riding up the climb and then to the downhill, I noticed the wind was starting to pick up. So, I decided to ride on the Walmart bike path. I made it to the end of the bike path and headed back. I got back on Highline and put my concentration on the climb. Listening to my music and counting off the undulations kept me focused. I made my way back to OTR and was mostly fun and games from there. Concentration was good. I had a few things to think about, and the morale was good. Not too many gremlins out there, today. Ailments, some right knee soreness on the last half of the ride. Balance and form was good. Gear.. I threw my chain off the big ring and the GoPro battery removal failure. Nutrition was good. I had enough provisions, without the need to ration. I was hungry after I got back. Other notes, I saw one or two cyclists today.
