Another day with horrible air quality. I decided to do the London Hilly Loop. I ended up doing two loops. The legs felt good to start. It's been a while since riding this route. It took about 10 minutes to reach the bottom of Box Hill. Once there, I was sufficiently warmed up. I was doing moderate to good tempo most of the way. I was out of the saddle more often than not. Sitting to drink and wipe sweat. I had to adjust my hand position on the hoods, while out of the saddle, because they were getting sore. I made it to the summit in 9 minutes and change. Putting me in the top 20, I think. I made my way down the mountain, put in a good dig up the tunnel. By the time I started my second lap, I was fully warmed up. I was able to put in a negative split on a the second time, up Box Hill. My HR was between 155 and 164, most of the way up. I was able to put in a generous dig up the tunnel climb. I also put in a negative split for the lap. Shortly after, I commenced the cool down. Concentration was good. I was listening to music, it definitely helped. Gear worked great. Ailments were next to none. Just a bit of hand soreness, when out of the saddle for extended minutes. Balance and form was good. Nutrition was spot on. I consumed about half my Gatorade. Other notes, I think there were about 1400 riders on this map, today.
