I set out what I wanted to do, today. It was one of the those days where I wanted to keep hitting the snooze button when I was taking a nap. I dragged myself out of bed, got suited up and headed out the door. The legs felt pretty good from the start. I was having problems with the GoPro camera. For some reason, it was giving an SD Card Error message. I checked the camera and it showed that I forgot to format the card. So, I figured I'd just delete the old videos when I get back from my ride. It continued to have this problem. About every 5 minutes or so. I put it out of my mind and concentrated on the ride. I made my way up OTR, doing good average time to the summit. The wind was from the North West, so I had a slight headwind when I was climbing the Banducci Wall. I made my way up Arosa. The body felt responsive. I think I may have had a bit of assistance from the wind. I'm not 100% sure, though. It went quick. I was near max, when I reached Lemans. I made my way around the backside. All the while, the GoPro kept stopping. I made my way to the Banducci Summit. I took a few moments rest and tried to trouble-shoot the issues with the camera. I decided to format the sd card, even if it meant I'd loose about 45 minutes of coverage. Turns out that, that was the right thing to do. I had no problems from that point on. I made my way back down Banducci. It was mostly fun. Descending the wall was a treat. There was a car behind. He had no room to pass, so I got into a tuck. I reached about 42 MPH. Shortly after, I made my way onto Highline. I was paying attention to the wind. It was a tail-wind, but it wasn't significant. I made my way to WS. Doing moderate tempo. Not slacking off, through. I wasn't sure what to expect from the wind. I reached the end of Highline and headed back, no stopping. I had a headwind at this point. It was somewhat mild. I was able to hold 15MPH+, most of the way. So the return trip went fast. I made one stop, at the Walmart bike path. I checked the GoPro battery. It had 21% charge remaining. So, I got back on the road. I made my way up the mile climb. Near max over the top. But no heroics. By this time I could feel the fatigue in my body. After descending and making my way up up the brief climb to Banducci, I decided to stop when I got to OTR, in order to feed. So, I made it to OTR and did just that. I fed an entire Chocolate Mint Cliff Bar. It went down easy. I chugged a bit of water, to go with it. I also swapped out the GoPro battery. It had about 2 or 3% remaining. From here, it was mostly fun and games back home. Concentration was good. Few lapses. Mostly in the zone with some things to think about and the music keeping me company. Balance and form was good. Ailments, some mild hand soreness when climbing out of the saddle for extended periods. Maybe some hints of leg muscle soreness. Nothing too detracting. Besides the GoPro, gear worked well. I think I determined the cause of the rattling noise. It has to do something with the rear Fidlock water bottle mount. Maybe some screws need tightening? Nutrition was spot on. I had enough provisions without rationing. Perhaps I should have fed sooner than I did, but the hunger pains were minimal. Perhaps more hydration, as well. Other notes, I saw about 5 or 6 cyclists.
