I went to Walmart early in the morning to pickup a strap for my sunglasses. The problem I've been having was that my sunglasses slide down my nose while riding in warm weather. So, I gave these sunglass straps a try. They worked great!. I didn't have to adjust my glasses, once the strap was properly tightened.
The weather is warm. I took a 30 minute nap after getting back from Walmart. I ate a waffle and a pancake, then got suited up. i got out a bit past 10 AM. The sun is out. The sky is still hazy from the local wild fires, but not too toxic. The air was from the North West and on the cool side. I made it to the summit of the descent in good average time. I cruised the downhill. Putting in digs over the risers. As I was descending, near the Gauntlet area, there was a train on its way down. I was keeping up with it. Lots of fun! After making it to the base of the climb, I pulled over to check the GoPro battery. It was at about 75%. Enough to get me home. After that, it was non-stop climbing. The legs felt pretty good. I was able to hold moderate to good tempo. No red-lining. I was listening to my music, most of the time. Perhaps doing the numbers in my head. Where would I be when this song ends? As I was climbing, there was this squirrel that crossed my path. I had no time to swerve, and ended up running over it. It let out a chirp. I looked back, and noticed that he was still alive and scampered to the other side of the road. That was at the base of the loop monument. From there it was steady tempo. The sunglass strap was working great. I never had to sit and adjust them. They stayed put and felt comfortable. I made my way to the summit. The body was responding well. Concentration was good. The morale was agreeable and the music helped. I didn't have much to think about, but it didn't put a hamper on things. Balance and form was good. Ailments... I was having some slight GI soreness, but it never escalated, nor detracted from my ride. Gear worked great. I didn't throw my chain off the big ring. Nutrition was perfect. No hunger pains. I consumed less than half my Gatorade, and some water. Other notes, I saw two cyclists on their way down, as I was nearing the summit.
