Well, today was an interesting ride. I got out the door, legs felt ok, needed warming up. Half way up to WTR, I noticed that my left cleat seemed to have more play than usual. At the same time, my left knee was hurting in a way that was unusual. So, I got to the top of the descent, took my shoe off and noticed that the screws were lose and missing one. I got my mini-screw driver and tightened them. I used my right shoe for a reference. After doing that, the soreness in the left knee went away. I cruised the downhill, got to the bottom and retightened the cleat screws. I felt ok at first. It took about 1 mile to get warmed up again. I kept the tempo nice and steady. I put a bit of a dig over the loop monument. I stopped to check my cleat again because there seemed to be some play going fore and aft. I don't remember it being like that before. From that point, I think I stopped one more time and then finished the climb. My concentration was good for the most part, but I was iffy on some parts. I had to coach myself into focus on more than a few occasions. Balance and form was real good. After setting the cleat, it felt like my left leg was more centered and relaxed. No telling if that was luck, coincidence, but it was better than usual. Ailments were next to none. Perhaps a hint of soreness in the lower back. Gear is working flawless, other than the cleat situation. Other notes, there was 1 other cyclist climbing as I was descending.
