I had lab today. I got back around 11AM, had breakfast and took a quick nap. I got out an hour later than usual. I decided to do the Tour de Teh (SS,R) course. The weather was warm and winds from the North West. There was a bit of overcast. I wore the standard kit. I wasn't sure what the pace was going to be like today. It turns out to be of a mixture. I felt good from the start. When I reached Banducci, the winds were hear and strong. I was laboring a bit over Banducci wall. After that, it was mostly pacing. But the wind made it that more challenging. The descent was fun and games. I reached over 40MPH on the downhill. Making my way out to SS had a severe headwind. The pace was less than 20MPH most of the time. I cruised the back entrance and recovered for a few minutes. I reached the tunnel in just over an hour. The return trip through SS and the valley was pleasant. Most of the time, I had a tail wind of sorts. The last cilmb was mostly moderate. I didn't want to slow down to a crawl, so I held a steady tempo. Once over the summit, I cruised my way home. I decided against going to the top of WTR. Concentration was good for the most part. I did find some gremlins on the last few miles of the ride, but I toughed it out. Ailments consisted of some shin soreness, a hint of left calf cramping, some right knee soreness at the end of the ride. I'm going to raise the saddle up a little and see how that fairs. Saddle soreness is mitigated and not much of an issue now, but will continue to treat it. Balance and form was good, but I think it would have been better had the saddle been raised a fraction. Gear is working well. One of the shims on the rear light fell off. I heard a metallic sound hitting the ground after summiting CVR. I turned around and looked for what it may have been. I didn't find anything. When I got back I noticed that the rear light was loose. It was a shim that came undone. I'll have to use a better one. I installed the new 550 mm rear derailleur cable yesterday. It added and inch or two of slack. Will see if that helps prevent accidental disengagement. I saw 2 other cyclists as I was climbing the Banducci wall.
