This ride goes into Silverton via Gallon House Road and the Gallon House Covered Bridge. The only major climb occurs just outside Silverton. The next portion is the Abiqua Loop. This starts on South Abiqua Road and goes 3.6 miles to the bridge and NE Abiqua Rd. Turn left and ride 3.8 miles to highway 213. Cross highway 213 for the Scotts Mills section. The final portion goes into Monitor via Monte Cristo and Barlow Road, followed by a 5 mile segment on Marquam and Wagon Road to the finish at Butte Creek Elementary School. NOTE: Just after the climb outside Silverton, the route directs riders to go right at the Evans Valley Rd and Valley View Road intersection. If you follow the route and go right, the pavement ends about 1/2 mile after the turn. There is a 1.5 mile gravel section. Most of this segment is hard-packed with minimal loose rock; ok for road bikes. There is a 1/4 mile segment near the end that is loose pebble rock and not recommended for road bikes. I managed to ride through it, but wouldn't do it again. The best option is to go left at the Evans Valley and Valley View intersection to highway 213. This reduces the ride by about a mile.
