John M led Gerry, Gill, Sally, Lisa, Alec, Peter H, Ann H, Jim H, Lawrie, John J, Clive Leslie, and myself out on the short ride west towards Denham.
Crossing the North Orbital Road at Denham we climbed up Old Slade Lane and on to elevenses at The Rowen Garden Centre where the service was abysmal, just as well we were’t in a hurry! Finally after refreshments we left Clive, John J, and Leslie as john led us round through the nether regions of Chorleywood and Heronsgate before descending to the North Orbital. There were fine views across the Colne Valley from the top. We turned towards Rickmansworth and lunch at the Halfway House PH. Gill had a puncture on the way.
We dined alfresco in the garden with the River Colne running through the bottom. The menu offers both Thai and English food which was good and reasonably priced. Black Sheep and Doom Bar were available.
Gills puncture fixed and lunch consumed we continued a well travelled route past Maple Cross and through West Hyde before ascending up Tilehouse Lane for more fine views across the valley and on to take tea at The Crew Room Cafe in Denham Aerodrome while watching the planes come and go.
Leaving the tea stop another puncture was discovered and Alec, Jim, and Gerry stayed to fix it while five of us carried on towards home.
