The story of the day were the wind conditions. It was cold, in the low 50's, come clouds, but mostly sunny. The winds were from the south and they were strong today. My original plan was to do Tour de Teh (SS,R). The moment I got out and realized how strong the winds were and that they would be tremendous if I went all the way to SS. So, I decided to do the abridged ride. I think I made the right choice. Out of the door, I felt ok. But after a few minutes, my legs felt somewhat heavy. Part of this was due to the fact that I was going into a headwind all the way to OTR. I cruised it to Route 202. No clue what my time was a that point. I decided to not even keep time today. No point... Banducci wall was more pleasant than usual given that I had a tailwind going up. I did moderate to good tempo finishing the climb. I took the usual minute break at the top and then commenced the downhill. It was fun and games. I think I reached over 43 MPH in a tuck position. It was a fast descent all the way to Pelliser. When I made the right turn onto Pellliser, the crosswind was furious. I had to lean into the wind just to keep my bike from zig-zaging across the road. The roads going east was even worse as I was going directly into severe winds. I was hardly able to hold 10mph, sometimes in my 32T for respite. Nevertheless, I marched my way to the last climb. As I expected, the winds subsided on the climb. It was far more manageable and enjoyable than the flat-lands. I did mostly moderate tempo. Once I reached the summit, I was able to stretch. Make my way to Route 202 and on to home. My concentration was good today. There were moments of gremlins, but I wasn't being chased much. I was focusing on some things that needed to get done. It helped make the miles go away. Balance and form was good, despite the wind conditions. Ailments were very minimal. Just the usual fatigue in the legs and lower back from the effort. Gear is working well. I got my new HR strap. I was able to pair it with my GPS without any issues. Other notes, There were no signs of any cyclists. I saw a dime on the ground as I was going from OTR to Banducci. I was reluctant to pick it up as someone else might put it to better use :D.
