They forecasted rain today. Turned out to be a typical cloudy day. They held up and I was able to do my entire ride in dry weather. It was in the low 60's, winds from the North West. I wore one base layer, arms and knees. I ended up removing my knee warmers before the climb began. I felt good out the door. As I was making my way up WTR, there was a civilian cyclist that needed help. His saddle appeared to be loose and he didn't have an alen wrench. I stopped and let him use the one I had stashed in my saddle bag. Took about 2 or 3 minutes. I consider that my good sumeritan (sp?) act of the day. Back to the ride... I didn't even pay attention to my time when I reached the start of the descent. I cruised the descent, no rush. When I reached the base of the climb, I turned around immediately and commenced. I stopped at the Chavez center entrance to take my knee warmers off. I hate having to do that because my legs feel so much different when going from wearing and not wearing knee warmers. Something about the differing in circulation. I did most of the climb in moderate to good tempo. Probably a good average ascent. My concentration today was mostly good. No gremlins, thank goodness. I kept my mind busy by concentrating on things I needed to get done in the next day or two. Balance was the lesser. I just didn't have that centered feeling. I took my knee warmers off. Between the difference of wearing and not wearing them was a bit of a shock to the system. Ailments were minimal. My right calf had a hint of cramping. I reduced the tempo to help mitigate. Other than that, I felt good. Gear is working great. I think I might have to adjust the front derailleur for the extreme gear configuration. Other notes, there about 5 or 6 people at the loop today as I was climbing. A surprise considering the weather forecast. I also saw a helicopter flying low as I was near the summit.
