Today was a perfect day for a bike ride! Winds from the North West. In the 50's. I decided on the Tour de Teh (SS,R) ride. The legs felt good. I made it to the summit of OTR in good average time. When I got there, it felt like I was going slower than actuality. Climbing up the Banducci Wall was a mix of traffic mitigation and keeping below the red-line. I made my way to the summit of Bnaducci. I think I got there in about 41 minutes. I pulled over at the summit to take a few moments rest. They put some tarmac on the turn-out. Much better than having to ride into the dirt. I decided to remove my head cap. After resting for about a minute or two, I headed down the mountain. I practiced my tuck and reached about 41 MPH on the lower slopes. The way out to SS was pleasant. There was a mild headwind and the air temperature was on the cool side. As I was approaching the climb through the backside of SS, a rider bridged up to me. He looked to be my better. He gapped me for a few moments. He had a type 1 diabetic kit. I was tempted to ask him if he had diabetes. I ended up catching up to him on the climb. The backside of SS was a treat. The pavement is nice and smooth. I decided to take a bio break at the local park. I hopped back on my bike and continued. I reached the tunnel in about 1:04 hours. I zipped through SS and made my way back to Banducci. There was another cyclist that bridged up to me. We spoke a few words and got on with the return from SS. Eventually, the type 1 rider caught back up. The three of us rode through Pallisier together. He was leading us. I was struggling to hold his wheel. I decided to let him go at the end of the road. I reached Boss Hogs in about 1:25-ish hours. I made up time by riding with the other cyclists. One of them headed up to Bear Valley. The last climb went well. The legs felt pretty strong. I caught bridged up to the type 1 cyclist. We joked a bit and then resumed at our own pace. When I reached the summit, I pulled over and swapped out the GoPro battery. By the time I got back on the bike, the remaining cyclist was about 2 to 3 hundred yards behind. I made my way to Route 202 and we both descended to OTR while mitigating traffic. He zoomed past me, and gapped me to the base. I almost caught back up to him on Mariposa. After that, it was mostly fun and games. Concentration was good. The morale felt good. The music helped. Weather was great. I was able to ride with others. People were in good spirits. Balance and form was good. Ailments were minimal. Gear worked perfect. Nutrition was spot on. I drank all of my Gatorade. No water. Other notes, there must have been at least 6 or 7 cyclists crossing my path today.
