It's the day after Thanks Giving. I woke up late and almost decided to scratch today's ride. I decided to go anyway. The weather is on the cool side. About 66 degrees when I left. As I was nearing the top of the descent, the temperature dropped by at least 6 or 7 degrees. I had enough clothing, but I didn't bring my head cap. I was a bit cold in the head on the way down. I made it to the top of the descent in good time. I cruised the downhill. When I reached the base of the climb, I headed back without stopping. I kept the tempo moderate for the first few minutes. The legs felt pretty good. I was able to settle into a tempo of moderate and nothing less. I had a few things to think about, so the miles went fairly quick. I was ticking over the landmarks one by one. At the same time, guessing the percentage of the climb that was completed. The music helped. I was guessing how many songs it would take to the next land mark. As I was approaching the summit, I was listening a song and was trying to reach the summit before the song ended. I was able to beat the song. From there it was mostly recovery back home. Concentration was good. Few lapses, minimal gremlins. Balance and form was good. Gear worked perfect. Ailments were minimal. Nutrition was good. I drank about 75% of my Gatorade. Other notes, there were tons of people at the Loop Monument when I passed it on the way down. The usual water truck was filling up the potable water tank as I was ascending. He appeared to be doing target practice on a sign with a shotgun. Very strange, I didn't hear any gunshot noises. I was tempted to take photos but decided against it.
