The weather has let up. It's clear skies, but cold. I decided on Keene n Back today. The knees are still sore. It was apparent from the start of the ride that I was in for a tough ride. The knees were cooperating just enough to do the ride. The wind was from the South East. Temperature around 48ish. I made it to the top of the descent in good average time. I cruised the downhill. There was some ice on the upper parts. I pulled over two times to take photos of some local farm animals. After reaching the base, I headed back, no stopping. The knees were complaining from the start. I was a bit low on the morale as the wind was going to be in my face for most of the climb. I was using my lowest gears as much as I could. I was in no hurry. The landmarks went by fast. I had a few things to think about that made the time go faster. After reaching the Loop Monument, I was beginning to feel better. I think the wind let up just a but. Perhaps it was shelter from the surrounding hill sides. From there, I was able to settle into a tempo where my knees were a bit more happy. I had to steer around the ice when I was near the summit, no danger from traffic. After reaching the summit, I let up and soft pedaled till I reached Weston. From there, it was mostly easy peasy. Concentration was good. All things considered. I was able to keep the morale on the positive side. Balance and form was wonky. I had to adjust my weight distribution when I was out of the saddle. The left knee was complaining more than the left. Ailments, as noted, the sore knees. Will likely have to recoup on the next ride. Gear worked perfect. Nutrition, there was a moment on the ascent, towards the upper slopes, that I was feeling some hunger signs. I had plenty of Gatorade and that's what got me home. Other notes, I saw one other cyclist about to descent into Keene as I just reached the summit.
