It was a perfect day to go to Willow Springs! It's cool, but not freezing. I wore knees, arms, head cap, and a thick base layer. No jacket. I was perfectly comfortable. The legs felt good from the start. Didn't take much to get warmed up. I did good time to the summit of OTR. The way out to WS was more or less what I expected. The wind was heading West. So, I had a headwind on the way out. It was a game of patience. I had stuff to think about, so I just kept my head down and somewhat meditated on some thoughts. No red-lining it. I wanted to give my knees a break. So, this was the ideal ride. After reaching WS, I headed back without stopping. I kept the tempo moderate. Mostly doing 20 MPH+. The mile climb went fast, as expected. No red-lining it, but I kept the tempo going over the top. The descent was a treat. Approaching 40 MPH while pedaling into it. After making it to OTR, it was mostly fun and games. Concentration was good. I was in the zone most of the time. Balance and form felt good. Gear worked flawless. I had to install a new rear tire before the ride started. Ailments, I have a sore IT-band. Mostly sensitive to touch than bearing force upon it. The right quad was hinting on soreness on the tougher parts of the ride. Nutrition was good. No hunger signs or soreness. I had about half my Gatorade and no water. Other notes, no other cyclists today. I saw one glider being towed be a prop-plane at Willow Springs.
