It was supposed to rain today, so I slept in a bit after an early morning breakfast. When I got up I noticed that it was still partly cloudy. So, I decided to head out for a ride. I was thinking about Tour de Teh (SS,R), but the wind was going the wrong way. I ended up deciding to go to Willow Springs and then the Banducci Summit. The temperature was ideal. In the upper 70's with mild winds from the South East. The legs felt pretty good to start. I made it in good time to the OTR summit. The outbound was mostly moderate tempo. No red-lining it. More of the less on the return. I was stretching here and there to keep the body from getting to stiff. After making it back from Willow Springs, I headed up Banducci. The wall went as expected. Some traffic mitigation. I had a nice tailwind pushing me up the climb. The remainder of the climb was a bit dangerous with the traffic coming from behind. I was watching my 6 the entire way up. After making it to the summit, I checked the GoPro camera battery. It was about 18%-ish, so I swapped the battery out. I took a few moments rest and then headed back down the mountain. Getting across the plateau was a chore going into the wind. Like going slow motion. The descent off the wall was fun. From there, I headed down OTR. Mostly relaxing tempo. I made it up the Mariposa hill with a nice tailwind. After reaching the top of Weston, I shut it down. My HR went back down to 115 or less when I got back to the door. Concentration was good. I had stuff to think about. The morale felt pretty good. Nutrition was good. No hunger signs. I went through my Gatorade and a few sips of water. Balance and form felt good. Gear worked flawless. I'm not 100% sure on the Giro bib shorts. But I'll keep using them and see how it goes. I bought a second pair, due to arrive soon. Ailments were minimal. My left upper knee was a bit sore on the last quarter of the ride. It never escalated. Other notes... I swapped out the seat clamp with a standard one. Will see if it holds it position better. It means I'll have to carry around an Allen wrench if I need to adjust it. I saw at least 3 cyclists today.
