So, I put in a good ride today. The temperature was around low 60's. Winds from the North West. I got out a bit late, but on the other hand, the weather was a bit warmer. The legs felt average today. I made it to the end of OTR in good average time. The climb to the summit of Banducci had some traffic mitigation. After reaching the summit, I took a few moments rest, hyrated, let traffic by, and then headed down the mountain. I'm learning how to descend since the new pavement was laid down. Roughly 3 or 4 MPH slower and requiring a bit more attention to handling. The trek through the farmlands to SS was mostly moderate tempo. The wind was noticeably strong. After reaching the entrance, I took a few moments to stretch on the bike and then made my way around the backside and down into SS. I stopped at the local park for a quick nature brake and then got back on the road. I think I reached the tunnel in about 1:10 hours. The legs were ok, but getting heavier. I stopped at the local mini mart, but they didn't have what I was looking for, so I got back on the road. The return trip went as planned. I was hoping for a better tailwind. I don't recall the time to Boss Hogs, but it was likely around 1:30-ish hours plus or minus 5 minutes. I stopped at the base of the last climb and swapped out the GoPro battery. Shortly after, I commenced the climb. I did moderate tempo, no heroics. I was listening to my music, counting off the songs to the summit. After reaching the summit, I pulled over to feed a Clif Bar. From there, I hopped back on the bike and made my way to Route 202. Apparently, they are still doing road construction. I still can't make out what they are doing. There was a huge line of cars, so I was extra careful to stay on the right side of the road. I made a left turn towards Highline, and then a u-turn so that I could get back onto OTR. I relaxed on the downhill, made my way over Mariposa, then back home. There was an event at the local parking area, but it was over by the time I got back. I shut it down after reaching the summit of Weston. Concentration was good. Some lapses that weren't too distracting. Gremlins were minimal. Gear worked great. Nutrition was good. I went through a Gatorade bottle, a Clif Bar and some water. Balance and form was good. Ailments, some sit bone soreness and the usual sensation of fatigue in the leg muscles. Other notes, no other cyclists today.
