Today's weather was the typical October turbulent wind conditions. It started from the South, then did a couple of reversals. It didn't take me very much to get warmed up. I think I bolted out of the door because I was running bit late. My mind wasn't there yet, not until the end of OTR at least. When I did reached the end of OTR, I spared no time and made my way to Highline. The wind was a cross-head for the majority of the outbound. I was trying to stay as focused as possible. Just keeping my eye on the road and what lay ahead. I felt good on the bike. Probably better than in the mind at this point. I was experiencing the passing gremlins. I was talking myself down more often than not. I was eager to make it to WS. After reaching WS, I turned around and headed back. I wasn't sure exactly what the wind was going to do. Turns out that it was more of a cross wind than anything, and turned cross-head as I reached the last risers. I pushed hard over the top. And made my way to OTR. From there it was the fun descent. Recovering and having a good time. Then Mariposa. I had a tail-wind going up it. It felt great. I was out of the saddle putting the power down, doing close to 20MPH to the top of the hill. After that, I made my way home. Concentration wasn't the best, but I was able to keep it in check. As I wrote, I experienced passing gremlins for a good part of the ride. Balance and form felt good. My legs felt square on the pedals. Ailments were right hand numbness. And some right calf signs of cramping. I noticed the cramping manifested while doing over 105 RPM for more than a few minutes. After reducing the cadence, it went away. Something to remember. Gear is working well. I have to oil my chain, that's been on my todo list. I'm going to try the other lube this time.
