I got up a bit earlier today. I had oatmeal for breakfast and it went down well. No upset stomach today. I got out before 8AM. I brought my extra bottle for the last half of the ride. I forgot to bring the mail locker key, so I had to stash the provisions in the bushes near the mail locker. Worked just fine. The legs felt pretty good to start. I made it to the end of OTR in good average time. I made my way up the Banducci Wall. It had minimal traffic mitigation. More of the same to the summit. I think I made it there in about 30 minutes or so. I took a few moments respite, let traffic by and then headed down the mountain. The descent was a treat. I made my way to Pellisier where I headed back. I stopped once to take a quick BIO at farm porta-potty. I passed Boss Hogs in about 1:01 hours. The last climb went fast. The legs were responding well. I kept my momentum going over the top. I was able to relax a bit till I reached Route 202. There was some traffic mitigation, so I was on high alert. I made it safely to OTR. The descent off OTR was enjoyable. I pushed over Mariposa and made my way back to the mail lockers. I swapped out bottles, stashed the used one in the bushed. Then, I headed to Keene. When I arrived at the summit, I pulled over to feed a Clif Bar and swap out the GoPro battery. I had sufficient provisions to last out and back. The descent was mostly relaxing. I put in two digs over the risers. After reaching the base, I headed back without stopping. The legs felt good. The miles went by quick and my patience was not taxed. I had my music going, it helped. I made it passed the land marks and the morale felt better on each passing. I increased my tempo as the climb progressed. I was at maximum going over the top. When I crested the summit, I took a few moments rest and then headed back home. (I picked up the stash from the bushes on my way there). Concentration was good. The morale felt good. I was keen on doing this ride, so the motivation was there. Ailments, some hand numbness while out of the saddle during extended moments. The legs felt good, the sensation of fatigue was acceptable. Balance and form felt good. Gear worked flawless. Nutrition was good. I fed a Clif Bar a bit passed the middle of the ride. It went down without soreness. I drank both bottled water and most of my Gatorade. I had just enough for this ride. Other notes, I saw 4 or 5 cyclists today.
Other notes... There was no one at the Loop Monument.
