It rained for the past two days. Starting a few hours after my weekend ride. As predicted, the rain has gone and it is now blue skies. I got out before 9 AM. The weather is cool. Winds from the South East. I decided to go to the Walmart Bike Path. As I was preparing my bike, I fumbled and the bike landed on me. I bruised my left thigh and right knee. Fortunately, it did not hinder me during the ride. It's feeling a bit sore now, hopefully will recover before the next big ride this coming weekend. I didn't bother checking my time at the summit of OTR. There was some run off water and a bit of mud and sand in some areas. Nothing impassible, but I was having to slow to a crawl so as not to get the bike all gunked. I made my way up the Volcano Climb, going into a modest headwind. After cresting the summit, I descended and made my way to the Walmart Bike Path. I had to merge with the car lane on a few occasions as there was run-off mud on parts of the bike path. The Walmart Bike Path was mostly easy tempo. I couldn't make it to the end because there was a slight mud slide that blocked the path. Suffice it to say, I was about 200 yards from the end of the bike path. From there, I headed back. No stopping. Although I did stop when I got onto the bike path. I checked to make sure the steerer stop was in place. It was. I made my way back on the bike path and onto Highline for the return. The newly bequeathed return climb is now called the "Dragon Back" or the "Dragon".
Either works for me. I made my way back to OTR safely. The descent was mostly fun and games while mitigating the run-off water and mud. I pushed over Mariposa, made my way to Weston and shut it down at the top. Concentration was good. Perhaps a bit lethargic in the mind. Balance and form felt good. Ailments, minimal. Will keep an eye on the bruises from the post ride fumble. I was having bio signs when I reached OTR on the return. It seemed to propogate to my GI ever so slightly. I calmed myself down, knowing I was only minutes away from home, it helped. Nutrition was good. No hunger signs. I went through about half my water and a few sips of the Powerbar drink. Gear worked flawless. Other notes, no cyclists today. There were some nice folks walking on the Walmart Bike Path.
