My intention was to ride in Zone 2+ but the ride started into a headwind and I was into zone 3+ and I wasn't feeling too bad so I kept it going. The most annoying thing about this ride was the clicking as I pedaled, it was the worse it has ever been and back pedaling only helped briefly... the wind added a bit of a challenge which forced me into a more aero position on the hoods with my forearms dropped onto the bars. I'm getting pretty good at it too. It is much more aero than being on the drops, I can feel the wind bouncing off my forearms. When I had a tailwind I dropped y effort into zone 2 for a bit until got half ways down Magnolia Rd and pumped it back up. It got a little difficult on Rte. 70 when I thought I would have a tailwind but it was a sidewind. I realized the last 4+ miles would be back into a headwind, so I had to get my ind ready for the pain-fest. When I made the left turn home, Mr. Wind was there waiting for me... I had to make a quick pit stop, the cold and all the hydration before and during the ride was taking it's toll. Now, I was ready for Mr. Wind tucked into my aero position I was slicing thru like cutting butter. About 2 miles into down I hit something on the and it didn't feel good... within seconds the rear tire went flat. I immediately pulled over checked the tire making sure it wasn't damaged, It's time to replace the tire too it has served me well, I checked the tire inside making sure it was good to go before putting new tube in. Wheel back on and aligned, lights and cameras back on and ready to go. With slightly over 2 miles to go but only 1 mile is rideable at speed, the last mile of my route the road is so bumpy and poorly patched it is not safe at speed on the shoulder and road! I traverse thru the landmine like a mogul skier, maintaining as much speed as possible safely. What a great adventure tonight's ride was! Be safe out there, Enjoy Your Ride.
