Couldn't get out as early as I wanted and had to get back early for expected phone call. I dressed much warmer for this ride as it was much colder than the past few days. I felt a little warm at the start then started to sweat as it got colder which I got cold, the cold headwind didn't help. I finally had a side wind started to heat up again, This was how the ride went for the entire time. The ride was a little sketchy as cars were passing me much closer than I was comfortable with especially on the roads that there were no shoulders. For a few miles the road had been resurfaced making very nice except they cut down the shoulder on about 1 mile stretch and there was a minimum 2 but mostly 3-4" drop onto soft dirt a crash waiting to happen if anyone rides off the 6-9" shoulder on Ft. Dix- Cookstown Rd! Then going into Cookstown they put down speed control bumps all the way to the white line and tiny shoulder. This ride was definitely not boring I had to stay alert the whole way, it was one thing or another. The first 1/3 of the ride I was sitting up on the hoods and finally got tire of fighting the wind so I dropped down into a more aero position, which was much easier into the wind but harder on my arms and neck. Legs felt weird on the road bike and the saddle felt low, it may have come down 1/8 to 1/4"? I need to check my fit measurement records. I was happy to get this adventure over with...
