It's cold, raining and miserable out. Perfect day to hop on the trainer. I chose the Watopia Mountain Loop Route. Getting the gear ready was quick. The HR sensor worked like a charm today. The first 10 minutes was mostly warming up to the start of the climb. My Halo Replay was going. I was using it as a gauge. I was able to settle into a sustainable tempo from the start. I was always ahead of my Halo Replay by a few seconds. I was doing in and out of the saddle efforts. The wattage was around 3 W/kg + or - 0.5. Mostly higher while out of the saddle. I recovered while in the saddle wiped sweat and hydrated. The miles went sufficiently quick. There was a cyclist that was my equal. We were neck and neck till the finish. I saved a drafting power up till the end of the climb. I posted a 90 PR by a few seconds. I was near max going over the top. The bonus climb went well. I settled into a modest tempo and let the difficulty catch up to me. The same rider was on my tail. My Halo Replay was still going. The bonus climb was mostly a ride of patience. Being that it feels as if you were in slow motion. After reaching the summit, I sat up to recover and then headed back down the mountain. I noticed the trainer was a bit off center, so I hopped off two times to center it. I did this during the downhill, so no time lost. After reaching the mainland, I noticed I was on good time, and still ahead of my Halo Replay. So, I tried not to slack off. I put in a modest dig through the sprint zone, I think I got 150th out of 500. From there, I made my way back to the finish and was able to stay ahead of my Halo Replay. After that, I cooled down till the HR went to 112BPM. Concentration was good. My patience was good. Minimal lapses and gremlins. Balance and form felt good. Ailments were minimal. Mostly hand numbness. The knees were hinting on soreness, but never escalated. At worst, I sat down and spun smaller gears. The sit bones were ok, but sore on occasion. Nutrition was good. Minimal hunger signs. I drank most of my sport drink. No water. Gear worked flawless. When shifting to the big ring, sometimes there's a delay or no engagement at all. No clue why. Other notes, there were over 6500 riders on this map today. There were some riders from California talking about the bad weather.
