It’s another rainy day. Good time to hop on the trainer. I chose the London Loop route. The setup went fast. The legs felt pretty good to start. I planned for another negative split ride. The first being the lesser. It took about 15 minutes to reach the base of the climb (for the first time). I tried to keep the wattage below 3 W/kg, but no less than 2 W/kg. I was in and out of the saddle. I was able to gauge the percentage complete to the summit. It helped the minutes go faster. I reached the summit for the first time in about 11 or 12 minutes. The placing wasn’t the greatest, but I wasn’t going full force, so no worries. From there, I headed back to town. I put in a modest dig through the tunnel riser. I made my way to the start finish and commenced the second lap. The Halo replays were going all the while. I was a few minutes behind my previous effort in a previous session. The second lap went quicker. I was nice and warm and was able to lift the tempo. I arrived at the base of the climb with a bit of eagerness. This time, I tried to keep the tempo above 3W/kg. I dipped below that a few times to recover in the saddle. The landmarks were passing quick. The pros came out to play today, so I concentrated on my ride. The HR was higher this time around. I was near max going over the top. (I had a feather power up that I forgot to use). I set a 90 PR by a few seconds. So, this was a fast ascension. From there, I headed back to town, putting a slightly more effort on the tunnel riser. As I was making my way back to the finish, I noticed that I was close to a PR on the lap. As I was nearing the finish, the numbers didn’t add up. I missed it by about 20 or 30 seconds. Good enough for me! Shortly after, I commenced the cooldown. I wanted till the HR went to 112 BPM and hopped off.
Concentration was good. Some impatience here and there. I was in the zone most of the time and the music helped too. Ailments were minimal. The knees felt good. The legs felt good. Just some minor hand soreness. Balance and form was pretty good. A bit wonky at times. Nutrition was good. No hunger signs. I went through most of my sport drink. Gear worked flawless. I have to redo the chainstay protection. Other notes, there were over 15,000 riders on the Watopia map and about 2,000 on the London map.
