The weather is great! In the low 70’s, cool wind from the North West. Perfect day to go to SS. I wore the standard summer kit with arm shades and a thick base layer. Turned out to be the right combination of clothing. The legs were a bit heavy to start. They needed some warming up. I made it to the summit of OTR in good average time. The legs were warmed up and good to go after that segment. The Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation, otherwise went well. After making it to the summit, I pulled over to recover for a minute and then headed down the mountain. I cruised my way to SS on the farmlands. I stretched on the bike when I passed the front entrance. I made my way around the backside. I put in a good sprint on the descent. I reached over 42 MPH in my tuck. I passed the tunnel in about 1:05-ish hours. I zipped through town and made my way back on the farm lands. I stopped once at the porta potties and took a quick bio. I mixed some powder drink with the extra bottle I brought. From there, I headed back. I passed Boss Hogs in about 1:27 – 1:28-ish hours. The last climb went quick. I was doing no less then moderate tempo, no heroics. I pushed over the top. After making it to the summit, I pulled over to feed. I fed a Clif Bar. I turned off my GoPro camera, but forgot to turn it back on. So the video footage stopped there. After feeding, I got back on the road and made my way to Route 202. There was some traffic mitigation. I had to sprint to OTR to keep it safe. The descent off OTR was mostly fun and games. I pushed over Mariposa and Weston. I shut it down at the top of Weston.
Concentration was good. Few lapses and almost no signs of gremlins. Balance and form was good. Although, I had a slight left lean. Nutrition was good. I fed at the right moment. I am now teaching my body to feed on a long ride. Ailments were minimal. My sit bones were a bit sore on the last half of the ride. Standing and stretching fixed that problem. The hands exhibited minimal numbness or soreness. Gear worked flawlessly. Other notes, no cyclists out there today.
