It’s warming up just a bit, but still beautiful outside. In the 70’s. Cool winds from the North West. I got out a bit early today. The legs felt pretty good to start. I made it to the summit of the descent in good average time. I cruised the downhill. Mostly soft-pedaling. I put in two digs on the risers. After reaching the base of the climb, I turned around and headed back without delay. The climb went relatively quick. I was coaching myself along the way. I kept my patience at bay. The landmarks went quick. The temperature was a bit warmer at the base, but not so much. I wore the right clothing. Shorts and short sleeves with arm coolers and a semi-thick base layer. The morale got better as the ride progressed. I reminded myself that a good meal awaits at home. I was doing no less than moderate tempo, winding it up as I approached the summit. I was doing high tempo over the top. After reaching the summit, I took a few moments to recover on the bike and then made my way back home. I shut it down at the top of Weston.
Concentration was good. Perhaps a bit of impatience here and there, otherwise in the zone. Balance and form was good. Ailments were minimal. Some hand soreness. I have slight soreness on the inner sit bones now, it seems to be subsiding. Nutrition was good. No hunger signs. I went through most of my sport drink. Gear worked flawlessly. Other notes, no cyclists today. last year, the Kern Wheelmen held a bike ride in Tehachapi around Father's Day. I'm keeping my eye out for it. Supposedly, they have a 60-ish mile ride. It's an adhoc gathering. So, I have to check the calendar on their website. In the meantime, I'm trying to stay in shape for it.
