It’s warming up a bit. I got up and out the door early. It’s in the upper 70’s. Sunny skies, winds from the North West. A good day to go to Keene. The legs felt average to start. They got better as the ride progressed. I made it to the summit of the descent in good average time. I cruised the downhill, putting in two moderate digs on the risers. I made it to the base in about 28 minutes. Again, good average time. After making it to the base, I headed back up the mountain, no stopping. The climb went well. It was warm, but not scorching. Only when I was away from the shelter of the mountain did I feel it. The landmarks went by quick. I was in the zone most of the time. The body responded well to the warmer climate. I was doing in and out of the saddle efforts most of the way to the summit. I kept my momentum going over the top, no heroics. After reaching the summit, I took a few moments to recover and then headed back home. I shut it down after doing the grind up Weston.
Concentration was good. No gremlins, minimal lapses. Balance and form felt good. Ailments, the usual hand soreness while out of the saddle extended efforts. Nutrition was good. No hunger signs. I went through most of my sport drink. No water. Gear worked flawlessly. Other notes, I saw one cyclist today as I was making my way back on WTR.
