I was a bit reluctant to get out of bed today, but managed to do it. The weather is great and I just couldn't pass it up. A Keene ride seemed fitting. As I was making my way to the summit, there was a sign that said "Road Closed". I wasn't sure what to make of it at that point, so I continued onward. I made it to the summit of the descent in good average time. I cruised the downhill, putting in two digs on the risers. As I was descending past the Loop Monument there was signs of a recent fire. A few hundred yards later, there was a crew of fire men. It looks like they contained the fire well before I got there. I made it tot he base in 28 minutes. So, pretty good time. I headed back without delay. The legs were responsive, the weather was on the cool side. It was getting warm only in the open segments. Otherwise, I didn't feel like I was overheating. The landmarks went quick. I had stuff to think about. I was doing in and out of the saddle efforts to the summit. I kept the tempo going over the top. After cresting the summit, I took a few moments to recover and stretch a bit on the bike. From there, I headed back home and shut it down at the top of Weston.
Concentration was good. Patience was not too bad. I was in the zone most of the time. Balance and form felt good. Ailments, the usual hand numbness. My right inner thigh has flared up just a bit. It happened when I was washing my car yesterday. I suppose it had to do with moving around so much. Nevertheless, it did not detract from my ride. Gear worked flawlessly. Although, I'm getting the strange chirping noises from my cleats while in the saddle. I'm tempted to contact Wahoo for their opinion on that. Other notes, there was one cyclist on his way back from Keene as I was heading out.
