Today was the first ride after the 2024 Tehachapi GranFondo. The weather is perfect. In the low 70’s, cool winds from the North West. I headed up to the Alpine Forest. The legs felt good to start. I had 2 days of recovery prior to this ride. I made it to the summit of OTR in good average time. The Banducci Wall had traffic mitigation, so I was watching my 6 most of the time. The Arosa climb was more relaxing as always. It went very fast. I think my mind is still in distance mode. I was near max at the summit. I made my way around the backside. I stayed within myself. I wanted to give my body moments of recovery. I reached 41+ MPH on the downhill. After making it to the summit of Banducci, I pulled over for a few moments to recover, and then headed back down the mountain. There was some traffic from behind, so I was having to let them by. The descent off the Banducci Wall was safe. I was feathering the brakes, but wasn’t being knocked around by the wind much. The descent off OTR was mostly fun and games. I pushed over Mariposa and modestly to the top of Weston. I shut it down shortly after.
Concentration was good. Minimal lapses and no gremlins. Balance and form were good. Ailments were minimal. Some hand soreness. Nutrition was good. I think I went through about half my sport drink. Gear worked flawlessly. I used some magnets to hold up my arm coolers. It worked like a charm. I’ll have to try it again. Other notes, no cyclists today.
