It's getting hot. I managed to get out around 8:30 AM. I was hoping to get out earlier. I was hoping for a bit of cloud cover, no such luck. The legs felt pretty good to start. The wind condition was modest. Slightly from the North West. I made it to the top of the descent in good time. I cruised the downhill and put in two digs on the risers. I made it to the base in about 25 minutes. So, I was doing good time. From there, I headed back without hesitation. It was warm to start, so I had to ease into a sustainable tempo. I had a few things to think about, so the miles went quick as did the landmarks. I was doing no less than moderate tempo. I was a bit reserved in the hotter, exposed segments. I felt better in the morale after the second dip. After reaching the "bridge", all I had to do was keep the tempo steady. I was doing the numbers in my head. I was pretty close to my predicted time. I kept the tempo going over the top. One thing I noticed was that my HR was elevated. It was having to expend extra energy to stay cool under these hot conditions. After reaching the summit, I took a few moments to recover and then headed back home. I shut it down at the top of Weston.
Concentration was good. The patience was in check. The morale was good, too. Balance and form was good. I adjusted the cleats. A bit more on the heel out and less on the heel in. It feels better. Nutrition was good. No hunger signs. I drank most of my sport drink, perhaps some water too. I was getting slight stomach sourness in the last 10 minutes of the ride. It didn't escalate. Gear worked flawlessly. Ailments consisted of hand numbness, nothing much else bu the usual fatigue and the extra fatigue from the hot conditions. Other notes, I saw one cyclist on their way back as I was descending.
