It has warmed up a bit. In the mid to low 70’s. Winds from the North West. I wore arms, knees, and a thick base layer. It turned out to be the right combination of clothing. I didn’t bother to check the time at the summit of WTR, but likely good average time. I cruised the downhill and put two good digs on the risers. After making it to the base, I headed back without hesitation. I estimated that I did good average time, as I didn’t bother checking the time till a minute or two later. The climb went as usual. I was getting slight heat fatigue, so I had to keep the tempo steady. I was doing in and out of the saddle efforts. The landmarks helped. So did my GPS announcements. While climbing, I got a phone call and was able to use the MP3 speaker to talk. Note to self, this may come in handy later. After the last dip, I was feeling better in the morale. I did a few number calculations in my head to stay focused. After cresting the summit, I took a few moments to recover on the bike and then headed back home. I shut it down at the top of Weston.
Concentration was good. Minimal lapses and no gremlins worth mentioning. Balance and form was good. Nutrition was good. I drank most of my sport drink, no water. I fed half a banana, some grapes and a few scoops of apple sauce before the ride. That held me over plenty. Ailments were minimal. Just some right hand numbness while digging out of the saddle. Gear worked flawlessly. Other notes, I saw a bunch of happy motor-cyclists that gave me courteous waves.
