I had an appointment this morning, so I got out later than normal. The weather is nice. In the low 60's. Winds from the South East. A good day to go to the Alpine Forest. I wore arms, knees, head cap and a thick base layer. That held me over plenty. The legs felt good to start. The metrics shows that I did good time to the top of OTR. The Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation. I was near max going over the top. The wind was in my favor. The Arosa climb went quick. The landmarks helped. I was going into a slight headwind, so I weaved my way to the summit in order to keep the quads in check. I was near max going over the top. I zipped around the back side reaching over 42 MPH on the downhill. From there, I made my way to the summit of Banducci. After making it there, I took a few moments to recover and let traffic by. Shortly after, I headed back down the mountain. There was some traffic mitigation from behind, so I was on 6 O'clock alert. The descent off the Banducci Wall was safe, even with the headwind. After making my way back to OTR, I was able to recover and enjoy the downhill. I pushed over Mariposa with a nice tailwind and then made my way back to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. Minimal lapses, no gremlins to speak of. Balance and form was good. Nutrition was good. I fed half a banana, some grapes and apple sauce. That held me over. Ailments were minimal. Some hand soreness was all. Gear worked flawlessly. Other notes, no cyclists today. Some people were burning their leaves at the Alpine Forest. I could smell it, but only while crossing the path of the smoke plumes.
