I got up late today, but managed to put in my ride. I was reluctant to go to SS, so I chose the shorter route. Weather is good. A bit cold, winds from the North West. I wore arms, knees, head cap, thin base layer, jacket and my face mask in my saddle bag. The legs felt good to start. I had my music and GPS announcements going. I didn't bother checking the time to the top of OTR, The metrics show that I did good average time. The climb up the Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation, so I was on 6 O'clock alert. After making it to the top, I was able to relax and then complete the last climbing segment. Again, with traffic mitigation. I didn't bother checking the time when I reached the summit. The metrics shows that I did good average time. The descent was enjoyable. It was safe with minimal traffic. The trek through the farmlands was steady tempo. No heroics. There were two dogs that jumped out of nowhere. They were barking, but didn't seem threatening. I past Boss Hogs in about 1:01-ish hours. So, I gave up only a minute on time. Pretty good. The last climb went as planned. I was doing in and out of the saddle efforts to keep the tempo going. I pushed over the summit and then pulled over to feed. After feeding, I got back on the road and made my way back home. Route 202 had some traffic mitigation, so I let the cars by as best I could. The OTR descent was fun and games as usual. I pushed over Mariposa and shut it down after digging to the top of Weston.
Concentration was good. It was a bit shady in places. I had stuff to think about that wish I didn't have to, but I held it together. No gremlins worth mentioning. Balance and form was good. Ailments were minimal. The hands felt good, perhaps minor soreness here and there. Nutrition was good I had half a banana and some grapes before departing. That held me over. I fed a Clif Bar after cresting the last climb. I drank most of my sport drink and some water with my Clif Bar. Gear worked flawlessly. Other notes, I saw one or two cyclists today.
