Great weather today! Sunny, cool and winds from the North West. Perfect for a trip to SS. I got out a bit earlier than usual. I was able to sneak in a 2 hour nap in the morning before hopping on the bike. I wore the standard spring kit, arms knees. The legs felt good from the start. Things went quick. Putting in good average time to the end of OTR. Sufficiently warmed up by then. Banducci went well. I was at maximum going up the wall. I recovered on the false flat. The remainder was no less than moderate tempo. Near max over the summit. I took a few moments rest, hydrated and then headed downhill. Fun and games. Practicing my tuck. Reaching over 40MPH towards the bottom slopes. From there, I made my way to SS. I was observing the road construction. Looks to be more clearing of dirt. Hopefully for a new lane. I was going into a headwind at this point. But, I was going faster than normal. I shut down to easy tempo after reaching the front entrance. Then the climb over the backside. The descent was fun. Topping out, nearly 40 MPH. I reached the tunnel in just over one hour. I was calculating what I was going to be at Boss Hogs. I predicted 22 or 23 minutes from that point. I sped my way through SS and then headed back on the farmlands. Doing mostly moderate tempo. I reached boss hogs in about 1:22. So, my prediction was right on. From there it was the last climb. The legs were a bit heavier but it went quick. No pushes over the top. I pulled over to swap camera batteries then finished the ride. Route 202, traffic mitigation. OTR, fun and games. Mariposa, the quick dig. And the remainder, just getting there. Concentration was good. Few lapses. Ailments, next to none. I think I had some mild knee soreness when I reached OTR on the way out. Never escalated. Balance and form felt good. Gear worked flawless. The extra bag I put on the bottom of the bike frame worked like a charm. No issues at all. Other notes. I saw about4 cyclists today. One of which looked to be a bike packer.
