As was predicted, it's raining. I chose to do the Zwift Mountain Route. I had to re-subscribe to Zwift. That set me back 10 minutes. I guess they no longer give 15k for free. Nevertheless, I hopped on and got on with business. I reached the bottom of the main climb in about 10 minutes. I was sufficiently warmed up by that time. The legs felt pretty good. I was doing in and out of the saddle efforts to keep the tempo going and to keep the muscles from seizing. I was doing 3 W/kg +/1 0.2 Watts for most of the climb. The HR was within my limits. I was breathing, but not gasping. I was keeping an eye on my Halo Replay. It became apparent that I was going to post a PR since the last two efforts. I was checking the time here and there. I kept my patience in check. When I was about 2 or 3 minutes from the summit, I felt pain in my left inner hip area. It felt like a pinched nerve or something. I had no choice but to let up. I was upset, but then thought, "let's see what I can do to make it go away". Easing off the tempo and remaining in the saddle did the trick. It went away a bit after making over the summit. The Bonus climb went without the pain. After finishing the bonus climb, I headed back down the mountain. I let my body recover. About 5 minutes from the finish, I noticed I was doing good time for the entire route. I went through the sprint zone while doing about 200 watts. That put me in the first 100 or something out of over 300 riders. I used a power up and completed the ride. I bested my previous time by about a minute or so. After crossing the finish, I commenced the cool down. I eased the HR down for a couple miles. When it reached 112 BPM, I called it quits.
Concentration was good. I was in the zone most of the time. I was looking forward to putting in a good trainer ride. My patience was mostly in check. Balance and form felt good. Ailments, the left inner hip soreness that persisted for about 3 or 4 minutes was the worst of it. Fortunately, it subsided and went away. I hardly feel anything now. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal, a banana and some grapes for breakfast. I drank all of my sport drink, no water. Gear worked flawlessly. Other notes, there were about 5 or 6 thousand riders on the Watopia map. And, I think there were about 14 or 15 thousand riders on all the maps combined. Most are on the New York map now that they released new routes.
