The weather is a bit cooler. In the low 50's. Nice and sunny. Winds from the North West. I wore the standard winter kit, with knee warmers and short finger gloves. I was comfortable from the beginning. I'm glad I brought my jacket. The legs felt pretty good to start. I made it to the summit of OTR in good average time. The Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation, otherwise went as planned. I was near max going over the top. More of the same for the remainder of the climb. I was keeping an eye on traffic. I made it to the summit in average time. After reaching the summit, I took a few moments to recover. I let traffic by and then headed down the mountain. It was safe with only one car from behind that ended up passing me at the start of the descent. After reaching the base, I was able to relax a bit. I decided to stick with the plan and head back without the SS loop. The return trip on the farmlands went quick. I had a gentle tailwind on the way back. I passed Boss Hogs in about 1:02 hours. So, I gave up about 2 minutes. The last climb went well. I was doing no less than moderate tempo. I kept my tempo going over the top. After reaching the base, I decided to pull over and feed a Clif Bar with some water. That took a few moments. I found a nice place to stop and watched the local cows grazing and hanging out. After I was done feeding I got back on the road. I stopped near the end of the road to take photos of some longhorn cows. I made my way to Route 202. Route 202 had some traffic mitigation, so I let traffic by before merging and turning onto OTR. The descent off OTR was fun and games. I stopped once more to take photos of the local horses and an alpaca. From there, it was non-stop riding back to home. I pushed over Mariposa and the dig to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. I was in the zone most of the time. My patience was in check. No gremlins worth mentioning. Balance and form was good. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal, half a banana and some grapes for breakfast. I took a nap and then had a few grapes. I drank most of my sport drink, fed a Clif Bar with some water on the ride. Ailments were minimal. The muscles and joints felt good. The hands were sore on occasions as usual. Gear worked flawlessly. The bike remains nice and quiet. Only the sound of the saddle bag and perhaps the water bottles could be heard while riding out of the saddle of over bumps.
Other notes, I saw one cyclist today.
