The weather continues to be beautiful. Around 60 degrees, winds from the South East. A good day to go to the Farmlands and back. I wore double arms, knees, thick base layer, head cap, face mask around the neck and a couple sheets of newspaper in the jersey. The legs felt ok to start. Perhaps a hint of heaviness. By the time I reached OTR, I felt better. I made it to the summit of OTR in good average time. The Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation, otherwise went well. I was near max going over the top while using my lowest gears. I had a tailwind to the top of Banducci. A bit of traffic mitigation here and there. I made it to the summit in good average time. After reaching the summit, I pulled over to recover for about a minute. there were a pair of cyclists behind me that caught up. They were riding mountain bikes, but I suspect they were e-bikes. The descent off Banducci was mostly safe. No traffic from behind, so I took all the time I needed. The trek through the farmlands went as I thought. I had either a side or headwind. I kept my tempo steady and focused on patience. I made it to Boss Hogs in about 1:01 hours and change. So, I only gave up about a minute, very good! The last climb went as planned. I stopped once to bio in the bushes. Then it was non-stop to the summit. No heroics, just steady tempo. After making it to the summit, I pulled over to feed a Clif Bar with water. Then I got back on the road and made my way to Route 202. Route 202 had no traffic from behind, so I was able to ride at a leisure pace. Descending off OTR was fun. I pushed over Mariposa and then the dig to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. My patience was in check. I had a few things to think about. Balance and form was good. Ailments were minimal. No hip pains today. Just the usual hand soreness. I had some mild saddle soreness that I am trying to remedy. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal with half a banana and some grapes for breakfast. I fed a Clif Bar with water and went through most of my sport drink. Gear worked flawlessly. The front derailleur cable is holding its place nicely. Other notes, I saw two mountain bikers, and a runner today.
