I've been sick for the past week. Today was the first chance I got to start riding again. I took it easy. I chose to ride indoors since I didn't want to expose myself to the outdoor coldness. I chose a route that would take 20 minutes to complete. It turned out to be just right. I started modest, as usual. After about 5 minutes, I was able to put more power into the pedals. There were two timed segments. I put in an effort on both. The legs felt good. I alternated between in and out of the saddle for the duration of the ride. I don't recall doing this route before, so I was a bit captivated by the new scenery. After finishing the lap, I commenced the cooldown. I am not sure why, but my HR stayed elevated for over a few minutes of soft pedaling. Nevertheless, it went down below 112 BPM where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. The morale felt good. I was happy to get back on the bike. Balance and form was good. Ailments were next to none. Nutrition was good. I had bowl of oatmeal, half a banana, and some grapes for breakfast. I had some apple sauce and a few grapes before the start of the ride. I drank less than 1/4 of my sport drink, no water. Gear worked flawlessly, but I had problems in the beginning. The rear derailleur wasn't shifting. After messing with the Di2 cabling, I got it to work again. I will likely need to replace it soon. Other notes, there were over 5000 riders on the Watopia map today.
