It's a beautiful day. Daylight savings. I got out a bit late. It's mostly sunny, in the mid 60's, winds from the North West. A good day to go to the farmlands. I wore arms, knees, thick base layer, head cap, face mask tucked in my neck, and newspaper in the jersey. The legs felt pretty good to start. I made it to the top of OTR in good time. The Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation. I was on 6 o'clock alert. I recovered on the flats and then made my way to the summit of Banducci. I made it there in good time. After making it to the summit, I took a few moments to recover. I let traffic by and then headed down the mountain. It was safe with no traffic from behind. I had a tailwind, so I was feathering the brakes to stay under control. I made my way around the flat farm lands. I had either a cross or headwind on the way back. I put it in my easy gears and played the patient game. I made it to Boss Hogs in about 59 minutes and change. So, I was on good time. The last climb went well. I was doing in and out of the saddle efforts while maintaining moderate tempo. After making it to the summit, I pulled over to recover and feed a Clif Bar. After that I made my way to OTR. Route 202 had some traffic mitigation, so I was all eyes and ears. Descending off OTR was very fun. There was a car from behind, so I put the power to the pedals. I pushed over Mariposa and then to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. The morale was good to start. I was a bit reluctant to get out of bed, but I was glad that I did. Minimal lapses and no gremlins. Balance and form was good. I adjust the saddle a bit lower by about a 1/4" or so. It feels better. Ailments were minimal. Some hand soreness mostly. The sit bones felt ok. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal, half a banana and a few grapes for breakfast. I didn't take my nap as I usually do. I went right to the bike. I fed a Clif Bar with some water and I drank most of sport drink. Gear worked flawlessly. Although, the electric pump activated while in the saddle bag. I had to stop and adjust it. I will have to figure out a way to keep this from happening in the future. Other notes, no cyclists today. There were some friendly motorists out there.
