It’s a great time to get out for a ride. It’s in the low 60’s. Winds from the North West. Perfect to head out to the farmlands. I wore arms, knees, thick base layer and newspaper in the jersey. It was the perfect combination. The legs felt a bit heavy to start, but after about 5 to 7 minutes, they felt better. I made it to the summit of OTR in good time. The Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation, so I was on alert. I recovered on the flats and then made my way to the summit doing no less than moderate tempo. After reaching the summit (in good average time), I pulled over to recover for a moment, let traffic by and headed down the mountain. I made my way through the farmlands. I reached Boss Hogs in about 1:01 hours, so I did good time. The last climb went as planned. I was doing in and out of the saddle efforts while maintaining moderate tempo or better. After reaching the summit, I pulled over to feed. I fed a Clif Bar with some water. Shortly after, I got back on the road and headed to Route 202. Route 202 had some minimal traffic mitigation, so it was mostly safe. Descending off OTR was fun and games. I pushed over Mariposa and then to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration as good. I was in the zone most the time. The morale felt good. Patience was in check. Balance and form was good. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal and half a banana for breakfast. I had the other half of the banana before departing. Ailments were minimal. I had some minor quad soreness in the first half of the ride that didn't linger or detract. I adjusted my cadence until it subsided. Gear worked flawlessly, although I was told that Glympse and Garmin Tracking didn't work. More investigating on that later. Other notes, no cyclists today.
