The woods! No need to take the Clydesdale Sail Body out on pavement when you can hide in the trees and stream valleys and avoid all that.
Not a huge amount of climbing on this route and just as well, since the ol body and legs were feeling it from yesterday's roadie adventure.
Trails are incredibly dry right now, with many small stream crossings completely dry; the ones that are wet, extremely shallow. And the undergrowth and foliage are already starting to intrude a bit in spots.
An excellent ride, regardless. Temperature in the low 80s along with the strong SW wind and the air was extremely dry. Found myself wanting more humidity to make the breathing easier!
Looks like the long-awaited bridge under the MD200/ICC crossing at 10.7 is about half-done. Really looking forward to that being finished, especially when riding this route in colder weather. Crossing the creek when it's cold is not for the weak or faint-hearted.
Checked out a dirt path off the paved Rock Creek Trail around mile 15 and it went where I thought it might -- the base of the dam for Lake Bernard Frank, by the spillway. After lots of years passing by and wondering, curiosity satisfied!
