I had an appointment in the morning. Fortunately, it was a quick one. I got back before 10AM. I got ready as soon as I got home. The weather is perfect. Around 70 degrees, perhaps less. Winds from the North West. Sunny skies. I wore the standard summer kit with a thick base layer and a sheet of newspaper in the jersey. That held me over plenty. I decided to bring an extra bottle of water in case I needed it since I planned on going to OTR after Keene. The legs felt pretty good to start. I made it to the summit of WTR in good average time. Before descending, I stashed the extra water bottle in the bushes. I cruised the downhill. Mostly soft pedaling. I put in two digs on the risers. I made it to the base in average time. After making it to the base, I headed back without delay. The climbing legs were there from the beginning. I had a generous tailwind and the air was nice and cool. A perfect combination for the Keene climb. The morale felt good. The miles and landmarks went quick. I had stuff to think about. After making it across the bridge, I guessed the number of songs to reach the summit, this kept my mind focused. My guess was pretty close. After making it to the summit, I grabbed the bottle that I stashed in the bushes. I got back on the road and headed to OTR. OTR felt good. The air remained cool and the morale was good too. After reaching the summit, I pulled over to feed a Clif Bar. Then I headed back home. I pushed over Mariposa and then the dig to the top of Weston where I shut it down.
Concentration was good. I had stuff to think about. Balance and form was good. Ailments were minimal. Just the usual hand soreness. Nutrition was good. I had a bowl of oatmeal in the morning. I had half a banana and some grapes before departing. Gear worked flawlessly. The bike is riding nice and quiet. Other notes, I saw a familiar cyclist while on the way down to Keene, and a familiar walker on the way to and back from OTR.
