Today was the first out-door ride since the ERCP. I feel mostly recovered, but my right side is still a bit sore. I think it may have been exaggerated by the chest band that I wore. Weather is great. Upper 50's. Winds from the North West. I wasn't sure how far I wanted to go, so I ended up going towards Banducci. I got a new water-bottle cage called a Fid-lock. I've been wanting to find another way to mount a bottle to my fork. The one I was using has a clamping mechanism that has to be extremely tight. I was questioning the integrity of the fork, under those conditions. So, I found a new mechanism that uses magnets to secure the bottle in place. It seems to be working great. I used zip ties, instead of the provided rubber ties. It is very secure. It also functions as an extra way to carry or store other things like arm/leg/knee warmers, etc. I made it to the end of OTR in good average time. I pulled over to remove my leg warmers and then stashed them on the Fid-lock. It worked like a charm. I was feeling pretty good, so I headed up Banducci. I was trying not to red-line it, up the wall. I think I maxed out around 150 BPM. The remainder of the climb was comfortable, with some traffic mitigation. I reached the summit in average time and took a few moments rest. I decided to head back. From there, it was mostly fun and games. Concentration was good. I was in the zone with minimal coaching. Ailments, some soreness on the right side. I had some soreness in my right toes, yesterday. But it has subsided and was not a problem today. Balance and form was good. Gear worked perfect. Nutrition was good. No hunger pains. I drank about 1/4 of my Gatorade. Other notes, no other cyclists to be seen.
