I was planning on going to the Alpine Forest and CV. But, the wind was coming from the North. So, I decided to head to WS, then up the Alpine Forest. The legs felt pretty good from the start. I raised my saddle by about 1/2 inch or so. It feels better. I'm going to change my position forward and up a bit, to see how that feels. Great day for a ride. Sunny, in the 70's. I made it to the end of OTR in good average time. The way out on Highline wasn't too bad. Going into the headwind, but I was pacing myself accordingly. When I reached the turn around point, I pulled over to check the GoPro Battery. It was nearly depleted, so I swapped a new one into it. The return trip was fun. Doing over 20 MPH most of the way. I was pushing it over the top. Reaching max HR at the summit. I was able to reach, nearly 40 MPH going down Highline. Then the Banducci wall. Again, red-lining it, and doing traffic mitigation. The Alpine Forest was more or less, what I expected. Doing good tempo and at max, over the top. Once over the high point, I was able to relax. I reached 43+ MPH on the dip, just before the exit. From there, I headed up to the Banducci summit. I took a few moments rest. Took an internet reading on my smart phone. It was faster on the up than the down. I wasn't expecting that. I headed back, shortly after. Doing some traffic mitigation. Then OTR and home. Mostly fun and games. Concentration was good. I was in the zone, few lapses. No gremlins. The morale is good. Pretty much ideal. Balance and form is good. The saddle height feels better, after raising it a bit. Ailments, next to none. Just the usual fatigue from the effort. Gear worked flawless. The first battery on the GoPro depleted faster than normal. Nutrition was good. Some mild signs of hunger, but mitigated with my energy drink. Other notes, I saw about 5 or 6 cyclists today. All with smiles.
