I got up early today. Around 6:45AM ish. I had my normal breakfast, took a nap and got out for my ride around 9:45AM (i'm guessing). The weather was supposed to be in the mid to upper 80's. There was a nice cool breeze when I got out. It was very comfortable. I cruised it to the top of the descent in slightly faster than average time. The downhill was fun and games. There was another cyclist on his way back up when I reached the 58 tunnel while descending. I figured he was a good 3 to 4 minutes ahead of me and appeared to be in equal if not better shape than I. I had no intentions of chasing him down, so I went my own pace for the ascent. I stated modest for the first half mile of the climb. I was feeling good, so I bumped the pace up. At this point, the weather was a tad warmer and the tailwind didn't provide enough air to cool off. It wasn't so bad though. Still in the comfort zone. I was able to keep my momentum going without having to mash the pedals. I was out of the saddle frequently. My concentration was average at best. I had to coach myself on the climb and sometimes my mind drifted into this cloudy zone (to put it mildly). Nevertheless, I made it in one piece. Form and balance felt good today. Ailments consisted of saddle soreness and not much else. Had it not been for the soreness, I think the lack of ailments was the better part of the ride. Gear is working great, no problems. Other notes, there were 2 other cyclists on the way down as I was nearing the completion of the climb. My intuition is that I will cross paths with other cyclists as I ride earlier in the day this summer.
More notes, after about 200 yards out the door, I noticed that my tires were low in pressure, so I went back to inflate them.
