I did a somewhat hybrid ride today. I've been consistently getting out a bit earlier every time. The weather is much nicer and the sun isn't as cruel as it is in the afternoon. Today was in the mid to upper 70's. Winds from the north. Very comfortable. I wore no layers, just the standard kit. My legs felt pretty good from the start. I felt better as the ride progressed and reached my peak at around the half way point. The wind was near perfect tail on the way out to Willow. It wasn't very consistent. I kept the tempo moderate. The return trip was done at slightly higher tempo. When I reached the Banducci wall, I decided to keep a good tempo going. As far as I can remember, there was very little headwind going up the wall. After reaching the false flats, I recovered and finished the climb, keeping my momentum nice and steady. I took a minute break at the summit and commenced the downhill. It was mostly fun and games till I reached the farm-lands. The wind wasn't as strong as it normally is during the afternoon. So, I kept the tempo around 18 to 23 mph until I reached the last climb. The last climb was comfortable with regards to the weather. I didn't overheat. It was done in steady tempo and I kept the momentum going by getting out of the saddle frequently. I was in and out the saddle for the majority of the ride. I was also stretching frequently. After summiting the last climb, I recovered and the remainder of the ride was mostly fun and games. Ailments consisted of mostly right hand numbness and some left hip soreness. To mitigate the left hip soreness, I frequently stretched my legs and lower back. My saddle sores have subsided significantly. I didn't feel any soreness on today's ride. I used Perperation H ointment on the sores and they have been consistently getting less and less with every ride. This is very encouraging! I know how to treat this ailment now. Balance and form were good today. Some leaning here and there, but not too bad. Gear is working flawless. I got my rear tail light yesterday and Dad was able to create a mount for it. It's working like a charm!
