I got out a bit earlier than usual, right after second breakfast. I wasn't sure what to expect from the weather. It wasn't too hot, but turns out that the air quality is horrible, again. Lots of haze from the local wild fires. I decided to go to the Alpine Forest. The legs were a bit heavy to start. I made it to the end of OTR in average time. I was taking my time, because I knew my body wasn't responding well to the bad weather. I tried my best to avoid red-lining it, up the Banducci wall. The Alpine Forest was more of the same. I kept the tempo steady. Well within my limits. It was actually, quite enjoyable. They put more speed bumps. I think they doubled it. So, now I have to negotiate 6 speed bumps. It made no difference to me. I made my way around the backside and then to the Banducci summit. I reached over 40 MPH, on my way there. I took a few moments rest, checked the GoPro, it was at around 54%. A few moments later, I went back down the mountain. Reaching over 40 MPH, down the Banducci wall. From there, I headed towards WS, on Highline. I wasn't sure what the wind conditions were going to be like. I made my way to the summit and descended to Tucker. I noticed that one of the wind turbines was pointing West. So, it looked like I was going to have a tailwind on the way back. Later on, I was able to confirm the change in wind direction, by observing the wind farms near WS. When I got there, I pulled over to swap out the GoPro battery, then headed back. It was a mild, but welcoming tailwind. The return trip went quick. I kept the tempo steady. Mostly moderate. I put a bit of an extra push over the summit. I made my way back to OTR. From there, it was mostly fun and games. Concentration was good. Few lapses. The music kept me entertained. I had a few things to think about, along the way. Balance and form felt good. Ailments... Some left Achilles heel soreness. That took a few moments to subside. Some minor right knee soreness around the last 30 minutes of the ride. It subsided after about 5 minutes, or so. Gear worked well. I did drop my chain once. Definitely a limiting screw that needs to be adjusted. There was a rattling noise as I was descending OTR. I think it may have been the valve nuts, that I forgot to tighten. Nutrition was spot on. I had plenty of provisions, no rationing. I had no hunger pains. Other news, I saw 2 other cyclists today.
