Much of today's ride was about the weather. It has cooled off. There's a strange haze in the air. Kind of like overcast at the beach. This blocked direct sun-light. So, it was a few degrees cooler than the previous rides. I decided to head up the Alpine Forest, later I would decide how far to ride, east on Highline. The legs felt descent, to start. I made it to the end of OTR in average time. I was in no hurry. The right knee was a bit sore, the past day. At this point, it wasn't noticeable. I headed up the Banducci Wall. Using all my gears. Trying not to red-line too much. Then Arosa. Using all my gears, more of the same. I was calculating the distances and times to the speed bumps. My distance estimations were off. When I calculated a mile, it was more like 3/4 miles. So, I was feeling it more than anything. I made my way around the backside. Having fun on the downhill. Reaching over 40 MPH. I headed up to the summit of Banducci and took a few moments rest, when I got there. I let traffic by, then headed back down. Descending off the Banducci wall was a treat. I was able to hold my tuck most of the way down. No turbulent wind conditions today. I then headed out on Highline. I was reminding myself to pay attention to the wind conditions. I decided to go as far as Dennison Rd. When I got there, I noticed the wind was going the same direction. So, I would have a headwind, no matter how far I went. Nevertheless, I decided to go all the way to WS. The wind was noticeable, but it wasn't significant enough to scratch WS. The GoPro battery was doing good. I had about 20 to 30 minutes of charge remaining. I headed back. Into the wind, as was anticipated. I kept my Ego in check. I did easy tempo for the first 1/2 mile. Then I was able to increase the tempo. About half way to the summit, my right knee was showing hints of soreness. The left calf also showed a hint of soreness. So, I backed off the tempo to let it subside. That seemed to work, because it let up and never escalated. I made my way up the kickers. Using all my gears, taking my time and no red-lining it. After making it to OTR, it was mostly fun and games from there. After descending OTR and up Mariposa, I remembered to check the GoPro battery. It was about 1 or 2% battery charge remaining. So, I stopped to swap out the battery. From there it was all good. Concentration was good. I had a few thing to think about and the morale was good. Balance and form felt good. Ailments, some left calf and right knee soreness. The usual quad fatigue from the miles. Gear worked well. Although, near the end of the ride, when I was making my way up Weston, the camera powered down. No clue why. The battery was charged and the SD card had plenty space remaining. Will have to keep an eye on it. Nutrition was good. I had enough fluids and didn't require feeding. Other notes, I saw one or two cyclists today. I stopped by the local park to take photos of their signs.
